Rainbow peg dolls

Image
My first proper go with acrylic paints! Really pleased with how my rainbow people have turned out. Feedback from the boys is that the purple one is too blue. Personally I thought the yellow one was too orange. Next challenge will be to see if my colour mixing skills are up to painting the other six colours to go with the 12 piece rainbow.

Cool, calm and collected, most of the time

I shouted at the boys the other night. I was doing my best to remain cool and calm in the face of some complete mayhem after tea but fell about five minutes short of keeping it up all the way to bedtime. I thought I had got away with it, T was his usual cheery self about 30 seconds later, but as Mark was changing his nappy this morning he was busy telling Daddy all about how Mummy had shouted yesterday.  I try very hard not to shout at them and I definitely have more patience now I’m not coping with moving house and pregnancy tiredness but it is still not enough to get me through every day keeping a calm and level tone.

(Delayed) World Book Day

Image
I think W may have broken my heart a little on World Book Day (delayed by a week with the snow). After lots of time spent painting and crafting a big robot body he got to school and didn't want to put it on. Luckily we had decorated his top as well so he still looked like a robot. He reminds me a lot of me sometimes - fancy dress and the thought of everyone peering at you and judging your efforts is not my favourite thing!

Hide and Seek

Image
Very exciting last week - had our first game of hide and seek where I genuinely didn't know where T was. No telling me where he was going to hide before I started counting, no hiding in the last place he hid and no chuckling to himself while I pretended to look for him - the quiet while I found him was surprisingly eerie!

First post

Hello, welcome to my first blog post! I have three boys - W aged 4, T aged 3 and A, 7 months. It’s never quiet, often slightly chaotic and we are generally a little bit late for everything. We’ve recently moved a bit further west to Hampshire and my eldest started school in September. Life feels surprisingly different to this time a year ago, and not just because of the logistics of looking after three boys! We are still adjusting to a life dictated by school runs and term dates but are enjoying the benefits of living in a much smaller, friendlier place.  I have been pondering starting a blog for a while now for a few reasons, not least to give my brain something to think about.
