Pigeons and Punctuality

Wednesday nearly turned into one of those days. Another pre-5am start from A should have meant we had loads of time to get to school. Every so often I decide we can take our time getting to school as the doors stay open for 10 minutes, and then it ends up being a mad scramble to get there. The care and precision with which W walked his scooter over to the bike rack and parked it up could only happen on a day when we arrive at 8.38am.  Then we had a pigeon in the hall.

Real Nappy Week

Image
No pretty prints here, just my stash of very reliable reusable nappies, all of which are on at least their fourth child.  (I am slightly cheating, I do have some nice bright wraps that go over the top - they don't last as long as the nappies)

End of the Easter Holidays

I have been meaning to write this since last Sunday but getting back into the swing of school and pre-school seems to have taken over all my time again, particularly in the evenings. That and A waking up crazy early is taking its toll on my motivation to get anything done once the boys are in bed - both Mark and I fell asleep in front of the TV the other night after another early start.  The holidays were great. It took a few days to get used to but by the second week we had settled nicely back into our old ways of day trips and picnics.

Life with boys...

I know gender isn't supposed to matter but I think life with small boys is starting to rub off on me - I found myself in the kitchen the other day trying to trap an interesting looking bug in a box because I thought the boys might want to see it.

Easter Trails

Image
The boys love a trail. We managed four over the Easter holidays as well as a couple of Easter Egg hunts on Easter Sunday. I think they are a good thing, it's a good way to encourage the boys to walk around different places but it does mean there is little deviating from the route dictated by the trail once you've started!

Mother's Day

Image
A slightly delayed post about Mother's Day... I haven't been a big fan of it in previous years. I don't like the implication that the boys can be nice to me on Mother's Day and then hideous for the rest of the year, and it is increasingly commercialised. But W is so enthusiastic about it this year (the indoctrination of school!) that I am warming slightly to 'Mother's Time Day'. And the cards from the boys are very sweet - first time T has written his name rather than just the first two letters. Just a pity A didn't get the memo about giving me a lie-in and still woke up at 5.30am.

Parents' evening

Image
I went to W's parents' evening before the end of term. As expected, all good. All the hideous behaviour is reserved for when he is with me (which is the right way round, even if I wish it wasn't like that sometimes). The teachers had left the children's literacy and numeracy books out to look through while we were waiting and I found W's picture of his family from last term. I know I was feeding a lot at the time but not sure I needed boobs like that!
