Pigeons and Punctuality

Wednesday nearly turned into one of those days. Another pre-5am start from A should have meant we had loads of time to get to school. Every so often I decide we can take our time getting to school as the doors stay open for 10 minutes, and then it ends up being a mad scramble to get there. The care and precision with which W walked his scooter over to the bike rack and parked it up could only happen on a day when we arrive at 8.38am.

Then we had a pigeon in the hall.
We have an overly friendly pigeon that often sits on top of the car as you drive out and had a couple of forays into the garage last weekend (scaring Mark in the process). I had left the front door ajar because A was asleep in the buggy outside and it must have seized the opportunity. Once it was in I think it was more afraid than me and T. Have to admit I didn't deal with it in a very controlled, parental way - screamed a bit, shut T in the kitchen then went round the outside to open the front door wide and ran away as it flew out.

Then we managed to be 15 minutes late for a 30 minute music class. We got within about 500m and hit some incredibly slow temporary traffic lights. I wasn't sure if it was the done thing to turn up quite so late but only two other children had turned up this week so I think our arrival was appreciated!

The day did improve after that - we had a good play date with someone from school (where it was very nice to just talk about the joys of three boys and Year R), A had a good sleep and school pick up was successfully negotiated. We are going to have to do something about the pigeon though.
